DRAVIDIAN ARCHITECTURE

Sydney’s one central park tower was designed by two renowned architects named Foster & Ateliers Jean Nouvel. This tower is not only known for its architecture but also for the extensive juxtaposition of two different height towers. The height of one central park’s large and small tower is 116m and 64.5m respectively. The structure holds 623 apartments and a retail space of 16.000 Sqm, the following are the unique and eco-friendly features of One Central park.

Largest Vertical Garden

The walls of this tower were specially designed by French artist and renowned botanist “Patrick Blanc”. He was the one who invented the planting design on the exteriors and used nearly 250 species of Australian native plants to the one central park tower. The plants that were used in this tower were selected using scientific techniques (testing plants under varied environmental conditions) to adopt every weather condition. Every residence and wall in this tower include a green facade with that a total area of thousand and two hundred square meters, which is the largest mass vertical garden in the world. To nourish these external green areas, water is piped into the laundry areas within the apartment. So, this external architecture is being recognized all over the world as a means of remembering the climate change and the phenomenon of earth heating up.

OTHER UNIQUE FEATURES

The key feature of this tower includes hanging gardens, an internal water plant (re-cycling), heliostat (a moveable mirror to reflect sunlight in a fixed direction) and a low-carbon tri-generation power plant. This tri-generation plant in this building saves approximately 1,36,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas over 20 years.

One Central Park is also unique for its cantilever (a horizontal structure which has support only on one end) structure that extends over 40 meters from the building’s edge at 100 meters in the air from the ground & this separate portion of the tower is known as the Sky garden. As the name suggests, this portion is covered with greeneries and has a series of panel reflectors that redirect the sunlight to nearby parks on the shady parts of the day. Also, with the effects of soft LED lights, this portion is illuminated at night which is another unique feature of this tower.
